Connection is a fundamental piece of everything we do at Open Up. Our programming teaches mindfulness tools and movement practices, centering people with disabilities. We strive to connect with each person individually and encourage participants to listen and connect with theirselves, while also connecting and building an inclusive community in the arts and wellness sectors of our city.
Amplified connection is evident in each of our classes and built into the core practices of each of our community partners so we are thrilled to bring our inclusive community together with CMOA and the PIttsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
This event will be a celebration of practicing gentle yoga in our own ways, together. Our class will celebrate the closing of the Access + Ability exhibit at the Carnegie Museum of Art on Saturday, September 7th from 11a - 12p in the Hall of Scuplture. Check out this interview about the exhibit from Cori Frazer, a staff member at Pittsburgh Center for Autistic Advocacy.
Class will feature live music from the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra with whom we’ve recording a sensory friendly soundtrack to use in our school programming. Their thoughtfully planned performance will not only bring a sense of levity and joy to the class, but will also serve as an accommodation to those who best experience class through non-verbal cues.
