On Saturday, May 2, Open Up Pgh will continue its monthly re-occuring family improv workshops in partnership with the Arcade Comedy Theater. This opportunity to be playful and try out dramatic theater exercises is inclusive for people of all ages and abilities, yet provides a safe and welcoming environment for people with special needs in particular.
This opportunity to be playful and try out dramatic theater exercises is inclusive for people of all ages and abilities. We offer large group circle exercises that incorporate imagination and movement. Individuals get an opportunity for self expression, but the spotlight is shared by the entire group. For example, in “Going to the City” each person in the circle gets a chance to say they are an item you would find in a city, such as a car, and then everyone in the circle pretends they are a car. These workshops also may include a taste of dialogue improv exercises, where people work with partners to learn the basics of creating an improvised scene.
*Free event, but suggested $10 donation per family that goes toward supporting future Open Up Pgh events
