Mindful Movement Leadership Camp

This camp is for students who are passionate about movement and learning more about the mind/body connection and would like to explore what it takes to work in the field of health and wellness.  Campers will have “mindful mornings” exploring concepts of mindfulness together through art making, writing, and interactive social games, take a daily yoga or creative movement class, learn about the business of teaching movement classes, and then learn to create their own mindful movement class with the potential to earn an “Open Up: Mindful Movement Teacher Certificate” that aligns with Open Up’s Yoga Alliance Accredited Teacher Training program.

Mindfulness

We include mindfulness in all aspects of what we do. Throughout our sessions we will encourage students to be present and check in with how they are feeling in the moment. We will teach breath practices and other tools for navigating stress and anxiety. We want participants to feel comfortable showing up just as they are.

Open Up is in our 7th year of teaching yoga in schools.

Our mission is to teach mindfulness tools through movement practices and interactive arts while centering people with disabilities. We want all people to have ease of access in finding avenues for increasing their overall sense of wellbeing. We believe that all people should be able to experience joy in community with others.

Our Open Schools programming has been running strong since 2017. We have been in over 30 schools and 200+ classrooms in the greater Pittsburgh area. We continue to grow and serve our community each year and are thrilled to add an after school program option that centers students living with disabilities.

Our curriculum is made up of accessible wellbeing practices that encourage self-discovery, connection, and joy. Gentle yoga, mindfulness, and improv games help students feel grounded in their bodies and foster social-emotional learning.
